Medicare Deductibles & Therapy Thresholds for 2024

As we dive into 2024, make sure you’re up to date on your medicare deductible and therapy threshold numbers!

Part B Deductible

The Medicare Part B deductible will be $240, an increase of $14 from $226 in 2023. It’s important to keep in mind that the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) does indicate that any Medicare beneficiaries who became effective after January 1, 2020 did not have the option to select a supplemental plan which covers the Medicare deductible and the Medicare deductible will be patient responsibility. Any patients who became eligible for Medicare prior to January 1, 2020 may have supplement plans which will cover their Part B deductible. We highly encourage benefit verification on patients’ supplement plans to determine if they cover the patient’s deductible to better estimate out of pocket costs to the patient.

KX Modifier Threshold

The KX Modifier threshold will be $2,330 for PT and SLP services combined and $2,330 for OT services. For Strata clients, the Medicare tracker, which displays in all Medicare patients’ accounts, provides an estimate of the amount applied for any patient during the current year, so you can monitor how close they are to meeting the annual threshold. The targeted medical review threshold will be $3,000 for PT & SLP combined and $3,000 for OT services. The Medicare tracker will be automatically reset for 2024.
