“The first handful of questions that you’re going to get will be the same and very predictable. Stuff like, what is the round that you’re doing? Who’s in the round? What are you around? How are you spending your money? What are your uses and sources of capital? Very routine standard questions.
I would drill these as if you’re, preparing for a speech event in high school, write it on flashcards, drill, have tight, poignant, well-executed answers, go to friends who’ve raised from venture and be like, how does my answer land to you? Specifically around fundraising, round structure.
I often talk to people and I’ll ask very basic questions about the structure of a safe note or a convertible note or a priced round. And people will use terms in a very fast and loose way that suggests that they don’t really know the capital instrument that they’re using, which is fair. This is very arcane information, but you make a much better impression if you have depth and expertise on those. So I would probably just drill as a tactical thing those answers and I would get feedback from friends who’ve trafficked in these circles, you know, how do I sound?”
