In the world of medical billing and EMR operations, 99% of your days follow the standard highway. But as a practice grows, you eventually hit those complex, highly specific intersections, like a patient switching to Medicare mid-treatment, or a patient seeing a PT and an OT on the same day.
Today’s mid-week release is all about surgical precision at these intersections. We are fine-tuning the system for these nuanced scenarios, adding automated safeguards and sharpening our logic so that even your most complex multi-specialty claims cruise through without a hitch.
The front line. Updates and refinements you’ll interact with firsthand within StrataEMR.
Improved - Paul updated the logic on the policies page to ensure the "StrataPT Recommended Amount" refreshes when a new policy is entered. This is especially helpful when a patient transitions over to Medicare, ensuring your front office is always looking at an updated calculation based on the new coverage.
The engine room. Internal improvements you won’t see on your screen, but you’ll certainly feel the impact of.
Improved - For our Florida practices, Paul sharpened Mako's logic regarding the 77 modifier on Medicare claims. Mako is hyper-selective, applying the modifier strictly to specific CPT codes it flags as billed on the same day by a different physician. This elite level of precision safeguards your first-pass clean claim rates.
Improved - Elise expanded our automated modifier logic to protect revenue for multi-discipline clinics (PT, OT, and ST). For specific Medicare PPO plans that try to pay a reduced rate when multiple services land on the same day, Mako now steps in to automatically apply the XE modifier. This ensures that the payer honors the full value of every single charge on the claim, regardless of how many different therapy sessions the patient attended that day.
Fixed - Elise also optimized our internal RCM workbench to better handle instances where multiple charges from the same payer land on the same date of service. Our internal system now processes these overlapping data points smoothly behind the scenes, helping our team work without breaking stride.
See you on the next update!
