Telehealth End Dates for Physical and Occupational Therapists

On March 6th, 2020 the President signed into law the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act in response to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE).  This act paved the way for beneficiaries in all areas of the country to receive telehealth services.

Currently, the PHE is set to expire on July 24, 2020, although this is subject to change.  This was always planned to be temporary and many payers have announced telehealth end dates for physical and occupational therapy practices.  We have listed these below.  Of course, predicting the future of the pandemic is impossible, and a surge in new cases could change or postpone some or all of the payer’s dates.

Aetna – August 4, 2020
Ambetter – through Public Health Emergency, currently July 24, 2020
American Specialty Health – July 31, 2020
BCBS – Varies by State, please check your state’s BCBS website.
Cigna – July 31, 2020
Humana – through Public Health Emergency, currently July 24, 2020
Medicare – through Public Health Emergency, currently July 24, 2020
